Engaging activities for winter indoor fun

Updated: Jan 17

Embrace winter not just as a season for bundling up and enjoying the snow but also as a chance to engage in enjoyable and creative home-based learning. These educational activities not only foster stronger family bonds but also nurture curiosity and a love for learning in your little ones.

Role plays

Cold days are ideal for taking out all the imitation toys and letting your imagination run wild at home, like playing meteorologists and presenting weather reports. Play at being a chef preparing a thousand recipes, and even play at doctors to cure those winter colds.

Build Magic Places

Create an enchanting reading nook complete with a teepee, plush pillows, and cozy blankets, and select educational tales that ignite your children's creativity and passion for reading.

Winter Science Experiments

Spark interest in science with exciting winter experiments. They can make salt snowflakes, explore the expansion of ice, or even create their own homemade “snow”. These experiments are not only educational, but they will also make your little ones feel like real scientists.

-Fill a Jar about 1/4 of the way with water

-Add about a teaspoon of white paint (no need to stir)

-Add baby oil to the jar until it is filled to the neck of the jar

-Wait for the water and paint to settle to the bottom of the jar

-Break up the Baking soda or Alka-Seltzer tabs into small pieces put them in the jar and watch the snowstorm begin

Discovering Geography Through Winter Traditions

Immerse yourself in cultural learning by exploring winter traditions from different parts of the world. Investigate how they celebrate the season in other countries, cook together typical winter dishes and discover how geography influences the festivities.
